Ram 1500 -- an overview

At the end of June, I went out and bought my first full-sized pickup truck -- a Dodge Ram 1500 SLT with a crew cab.

I was wowed by the semi-truck styling of the thing, that mango tango paint job, the car-like comfort of the ride and a stout V-8 under the hood.

The fuel economy is terrible and parking the thing can be a nightmare, but I just had to buy the truck. Now that I've had it a few months, the time is right to review it.

Hey, the 2011 Rams are virtually unchanged, so people looking at one of those might want to know what someone thinks about a 2010 model after a few months. Am I still glad I shelled out $32,000 for a gas-guzzling pickup truck? Click here and find out.

Back in 1998, I felt the same way after I bought my Dodge Truck 1500 4WD extended cab. After a year, I asked myself "why did I spend all that money." It took 2 yrs before my first scratch and really using it for its intended purpose as a work truck. Now after 12 years and over 100,000 miles, even with dents from ranch work, it is still a nice truck. Only complaint after all these years is dash board cover which cracked from Arkansas summer heat. Still love the seats, ride, radio and it being a great work horse!

When it first appeared, the Dodge Ram 1500 was far and away the biggest, baddest pickup in America. Its big-rig appearance was backed up by class-leading engines, all based on the old LA V8: the 318 and 360, and a V6 and V10 in the same family, not to mention a Cummins turbodiesel with a deserved reputation for power, efficiency, and durability. The engines outpowered the competition even as the interior provided amenities and comfort far beyond GM or Ford. Dodge tripled its market share as soon as it could build enough trucks, winning over buyers in a very loyal market.

Dodge Ram is a Great truck. A majority of interiors for cars and trucks are now made of hard plastic because of durablility and quality compared to the old school leather dash board that needs a lot of TLC according to my dad who drives Trucks and other american cars.
He doesn’t have to worry throwing his muddy tools on his dash.
