"Ranger Against War"...
Military commentary from a retired Special Forces officer. Expresses views against the Iraq War and the War on Terror. Sees the current Presidential administration as undertaking unjustified military responses to terrorism.
This blog has insightful and intelligent observations on many issues relevant to this Republic's affairs and situations. The discussions in the "Comments" sections (following each posted article) are also quite informative and stimulating.
"Ranger Against War" (http://rangeragainstwar.blogspot.com/)"This is great wisdom, not to be hasty in action, or stubborn in our own opinions. A part of this wisdom also is not to believe every word we hear, nor to tell others all that we hear, even though we believe it. Take counsel with a man who is wise and of a good conscience; and seek to be instructed by one better than thyself, rather than to follow thine own inventions. A good life maketh a man wise toward God, and giveth him experience in many things. The more humble a man is in himself, and the more obedient towards God, the wiser will he be in all things, and the more shall his soul be at peace."
-Thomas a Kempis, (Imitation of Christ, Chapter IV of Prudence In Action)
So I was thinking about the earlier suggestion that we make "honorary Arkies" out of folks by reviewing their blogs, asking them to join and, thus, creating more traffic around these parts.
Now, my brother and I have always wanted to be Kentucky Colonels. Yes, we could wear our white, linen suits, sip mint juleps and all of that. Anyway, to become a Kentucky Colonel, you don't even have to live in Kentucky -- you just have to contribute something that benefits the culture of Kentucky (i.e., Colonel Tom Parker was born in Europe and, yet, he was honored by the state of Kentucky).
So, that led me to think about making Captains in the All Arkie Army and the folks nominated for a dandy blog review over here would be given the handsome badge that I went and put together.
What do y'all think?
That FishHawk feller and I have been talking about a contest that the All Arkie Army should sponsor. Well, it's not a contest so much as it's a project -- a way to get some more traffic around here.
Here's what we've come up with -- let's do some blog reviews!
"Blog reviews of what?"
Well, blog reviews of blogs penned by folks that we like. Is there someone who'd make a great member of the All Arkie Army but for geographic location? Heck, let's do a review and ask them to be an honorary member. They'd get a bit of promotion, maybe get an "Honorary" badge to slap on their blogs that would lead traffic here. Ah, the possiblities are endless.
Bear in mind this is an idea we're playing with. So far, it seems logical to get some nominations for blog reviews then we'd vote. The member putting the nomination forward would get to write the review and then post it here.
We need some input, of course. Y'all let me know what you think by commenting here...
